Edward van de Vendel
Edward van de Vendel (1964) is a Dutch author of poems and children’s and youth books. As a former teacher, the author wants his books to really mean something: “I found out that the books I wrote can sometimes be really valuable for children and teenagers. So that is now the constant search.” For the dozens of books that he published, he received several Zilveren Griffels, Gouden Zoenen and other awards. Last year, his collection of poems for children, Wat je moet doen als je over een nijlpaard struikelt (What to do if you stumble over a hippo), was awarded the Gouden Poëziemedaille (a Dutch Poetry Medal). Van de Vendel also works as a translator of, among others, the books of Gary Northfield.
