All online Book Talks are in English. \n1 October\nMarianne Faithfull\nMarianne Faithfull is the famous singer of pop hits like As Tears Go by (written by Mick Jagger) and The Ballad of Lucy Jordan\, but she is also an enthusiastic lover of poetry. She regularly recites poems during her concert performances\, and her latest album co-written and recorded with Nick Cave in 2018 was titled ‘Negative Capability’\, a reference to the poet John Keats. Last year\, she recorded her dream album: a collection of spoken-word poems by her favourite 19th-century poets\, to the accompaniment of a soundscape by Bad Seeds composer and violinist Warren Ellis. On She Walks in Beauty\, Faithfull recited poems by Keats\, Shelley\, Wordsworth and Byron with an intensity and drive that reveals a lifetime spent in the peaks and valleys of an artist’s life in every word. From her home in London\, Faithfull will speak with ILFU about She Walks in Beauty and her love of poetry. \nOnline\n19:00 daily + on demand\n5 euros (ticket sales start soon) / Free for ILFU members via ilfu.com \nPhoto Marianne Faithfull with Warren Ellis

SUMMARY:Amadyaz: Singer-songwriters from the Rif
DESCRIPTION:Under the name ‘Amadyaz’\, Utrecht’s musical collective Imetlaâ and friends will bring the music of iconic Northern Moroccan singer-songwriters from the 1980s back to the podium. Back then\, singers like Walid Mimoun\, Khalid Izri and Mimoun Rahmouni performed compositions that have since nestled themselves in the canon of Amazigh music from the Rif mountains. The music\, lyrics and style are inspired by centuries-old Rif musical and oral traditions like Izran\, but also by socially critical English and French singer-songwriters from the 1960s and ‘70s. One of these icons will perform as a special guest during the programme: Mimoun Rahmouni\, singer and guitarist from the band Ithran.\nPhilosopher and documentary filmmaker Khadija al Mourabit will host the performance. \nAdmission: € 22.50\nILFU members: € 18\nseated concert \nLine-up: \nMohamed Allati – Zang\, Gitaar\nDieter van der Westen – Basgitaar\, zang\nIndra Salima Kartodirdjo – Viool\, handpercussie\nMustafa Ahrouh – Zang\, adjoun\nRachid Khelifi – Drums\nHatim Khelifi – Toetsen\nMahdi Benhammou – Klarinet\, fluit en sax\nMarck Heusschen – gitaar\nMimoun Rahmouni – Zang\, gitaar\, special guest  \nMeaning\n‘Amadyas’ means ‘troubadour’ in Tamazight\, the language of the indigenous residents of the Rif mountains in Morocco. They were the musical travellers\, poets\, writers and singers who entertained people at social\, religious and festive events\, but they also carried important news from place to place.\n‘Izran’ means ‘songs’ in Tamazight\, and refers to the lyrical poetry tradition of the Rif region.\n‘Imetlaâ’ roughly translates as ‘cosmopolitans’ in Tamazight\, evoking those who lead a wandering existence.\n‘Ithran’ means ‘stars’ in Tamazight.\nAn adjoun\, also known as a ‘bendir’ or ‘genga’ outside the Rif\, is a wooden-frame drum with snares behind the skin. The instrument somewhat resembles a tambourine\, but without the metal jingles. \nWho we are: Morocco\nAt every edition of the ILFU festival\, we pay special attention to the literature and culture of a country that is strongly represented among Utrecht’s residents. The literature in these countries is often overshadowed in the media by the avalanche of new publications from America\, England and Europe. By focusing on a specific country\, we can introduce readers to the rich literary traditions of many different language areas. This year and next\, we will shine a spotlight on Morocco and its literature. \nCorona ticket needed\nIn addition to an entrance ticket\, you also need a corona admission ticket (a vaccination\, test or recovery certificate) to visit this program\, because no 1.5 meters are kept here. The corona admission ticket can be shown via the CoronaCheck app or on paper. For more information\, visit the Testing for Access website.

SUMMARY:ILFU Book Talk with Max Porter
DESCRIPTION:Regular price: € 17\,50 \nILFU-members price: € 14\,00 \nMax Porter (1981) gained international fame with his debut novel Grief is the Thing with Feathers. The novella\, divided into three and consisting of prose poems\, short fables and fragments of plays\, is about a family where the mother has passed away. He received\, among other things\, the Europese Literatuurprijs and the International Dylan Thomas Prize for his debut and Theater Rotterdam adapted it for the stage (starring among others Jacob Derwig). His second novel\, Lanny\, was nominated for the Booker Prize. This summer Porter’s new book was published\, The Death of Francis Bacon. This novel is yet again a brilliant story in which Porter records the last thoughts of the painter Francis Bacon\, who died solitarily in Madrid in 1992. It is also an attempt to catch Bacons tormented canvasses and explosive love life in poetic language. ‘Porter is one of our most exciting writers\,’ The Spectator wrote. ‘Max Porter has been renewing the novel since 2015\,’ De Standaard wrote. At ILFU Max Porter will broach the subject of his need for new narrative styles and his obsession with Francis Bacon with interviewer Alicja Gescinska. \n

SUMMARY:ILFU Children’s Programme: Gary Northfield (7+)
DESCRIPTION:You’re probably familiar with the hilarious books about Julius Zebra\, the fearless zebra who becomes a gladiator and goes on adventures in the Roman Empire\, Egypt and England. Now\, Gary Northfield\, the writer of the Julius Zebra books\, is coming to Utrecht especially for the ILFU! \nTo tie into the theme of this year’s Children’s Book Week\, ‘Worden wat je wil’ (Becoming what you want’\, Edward van de Vendel will interview Northfield about his book Hoe word ik een gladiator? and about the profession of ‘author-illustrator’. That’s because Gary Northfield not only writes the books; he also creates all the illustrations himself! There are also two Dutch illustrators: Floor de Goede and Hedy Tjin. They aren’t writers\, but they produce amazing drawings and comic strips for children’s books. \nEdward van de Vendel is himself an award-winning children’s book author and poet. During the first half of the programme\, he will interview Gary Northfield\, Floor de Goede and Hedy Tjin. Part of the conversation will be in English. You might have had some English at school\, but Edward will also translate what they talk about so children who don’t speak English can follow the conversation. Together\, they’ll tell all about how to make drawing your profession. And of course\, you’ll have an opportunity to ask any questions you might have.\nIn the second half of the programme\, Gary Northfield will teach a drawing workshop to help you learn all the tricks of the trade. Floor de Goede and Hedy Tjin will also show how they create illustrations. And afterwards\, you can ask them all for their signatures! \nAbout Gary Northfield and Julius Zebra\nGary Northfield is a cartoonist and children’s book writer. Julius Zebra is one of his popular book series\, with five stories and a collection of jokes. The fun books make you laugh while you learn about the history of the ancient Roman Empire. The Guardian\, a big newspaper in England\, gave the first book in the series a 9/10 score and called it a ‘page-turner’: a book you can’t stop reading! \nAbout Edward van de Vendel\, Floor de Goede and Hedy Tjin.\nEdward van de Vendel is a writer and poet. He has written around 100 children’s books\, many of which have won awards such as the Woutertje Pieterse Prize\, 12 Zilveren Griffels and the German Youth Literature Prize. He has also translated many children’s books into Dutch\, including the books about Julius Zebra. His latest work\, Rekenen voor je leven\, with illustrations by Floor de Goede\, has recently been released. \nFloor de Goede is a comic strip illustrator. He draws a semi-autobiographical strip about Flo every day\, and he has now collected seven book collections of the comic strip. SUMMARY:Maya Angelou Film Programme: Georgia\, Georgia
DESCRIPTION:Maya Angelou Film Programme \nEach year\, ILFU highlights a selected author from the literary canon. This year’s icon is Maya Angelou (1928-2014)\, poet\, writer\, dancer\, singer\, filmmaker and civil rights activist. She had her international breakthrough with the autobiographical novel I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings (1969) Angelou worked as a journalist in Cairo and Ghana\, worked as an activist together with Dr. Martin Luther King\, and President Bill Clinton asked her to read her now-famous poem ‘On the Pulse of the Morning’ at his inauguration. We will focus on Maya Angelou’s work for the coming year\, and during the festival we will screen two of her exceptional films: I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings (1979) and Georgia\, Georgia (1972). \nGeorgia\, Georgia (1972)\nA curiosity in the oeuvre of Maya Angelou\, Georgia Georgia is the first script she wrote\, and also the first script by a Black screenwriter in cinema history. Diana Sands plays the popular Black singer Georgia\, who travels to Sweden for a gig and has an affair with a White man. They quickly encounter the prejudices towards interracial relationships\, and Georgia has more and more difficulty with the a-political\, ‘whitewashed’ character she portrays in public. The film\, directed by the Swede Stig Björkman and featuring Diana Sands and Dirk Benedict (from The A-Team)\, is a must-watch for fans of Maya Angelou’s work and themes.\nIn English\, with subtitles \nTuesday\, 28 September 19:00\nintroduction by writer and film journalist Basje Boer (Dutch spoken). \nWednesday\, 29 September 19:00\nintroduction by journalist and writer Dominique van Varsseveld (Dutch spoken). \nFriday\, 1 October 19:00\nintroduction by film journalist Kevin Toma (Dutch spoken). \nLouis Hartlooper Complex\nThere are a limited number of ticket available\, so order today via hartlooper.nl

SUMMARY:ILFU Exploring Stories i.a. Roxane Gay\, Ayaan Hirsi Ali\, Alfred Birney\, Imbolo Mbue
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Stories is a festival day on a wide range of current\, urgent topics that depart from this year’s festival topic: Why Fiction Matters. International and Dutch authors\, live and online\, go into topics that matter\, both in reality and in literature. If the past year has taught us anything\, it is that the big issues of our time are all intertwined. Climate change\, globalisation\, capitalism and racial\, cultural and economic inequality are global issues for which a univocal solution does not exist.\nAlthough science and journalism map out reality\, many invisible things remain. Literature searches for the truth behind the perceptible facts. In literature\, it is not about the world as is\, but about the world as it could be\, whether that results in an enticing or a terrifying world. ‘I write books about possible\, unpleasant futures in the hope that we will not allow those futures into reality\,’ Margaret Atwood said at last year’s ILFU. \nDuring Exploring stories you’ll discover new insights about the important matters of our time\, discover new writers\, and hopefully you’ll return home with new ideas and a sizeable bag filled with new books.  \n  \nLINE UP \nView and download timetable \nThe writer as prosecutor: Roberto Saviano & Désanne van Brederode \nRoberto Saviano\, Italian journalist and author of the book Gomorrah\, wrote a fiery piece in response to the murder of Peter R. de Vries about The Netherlands and crime. He joins author Désanne van Brederode in conversation about truth and crime.\nItalian and Dutch spoken [simultaneous interpreter] \n  \nClimate issues and oil spills: Imbolo Mbue & Rebekka de Wit \nImbolo Mbue’s second novel\, How Beautiful We Were\, is about the battle of a fictional African village with an American oil company. Mbue talks to writer and director Rebekka de Wit of the theatre production De zaak Shell (in English: The Shell Trail).\nEnglish spoken \n  \nRepressed words\, writing about sexual abuse: Caroline Lamarche & Manon Uphoff \nA program with Caroline Lamarche and Manon Uphoff\, who both wrote about disruptive relationships and sexual abuse; Lamarche in La mémoire de l’air (The Memory of the Sky)\, Uphoff in her novel Vallen is als vliegen (Falling is like flying).\nEnglish spoken \n  \nHow language shapes the world: Joyce Carol Oates  & Kristien Hemmerechts \nLaurelled prolific writer and driven tweeter Joyce Carol Oates recently fiercely but humorously criticized the consequences of identity thinking on our language use. What words can we still use and what words can we no longer use?\nEnglish spoken \n  \nThe Feminism of Maya Angelou with Sylvana Simons\, Christine Otten & Raoul de Jong \nWriter\, performer\, civil rights activist: charismatic Maya Angelou was all this. Not in the least she was an advocate for women’s rights\, within and outside of the black community. Angelou is the Literary Master of ILFU 2021.\nDutch spoken \n  \nThe politics of the personal: Lisa Weeda & Katerina Poladjan  \n‘Why Fiction Matters’ is the theme of ILFU 2021. What role does fiction plays when mapping the politics and history of a country? Lisa Weeda wrote the novel Aleksandra\, about her grandmother who was deported from Ukraine in 1942 and ended up in the German war industry\, and about a family between East and West that just can’t get away from an area that seems never to find peace.  Interview by Daan Doesborgh.\nEnglish spoken \n  \nRepresentation and privilege: Roxane Gay & Samya Hafsaoui \nRoxane Gay is writer and culture critic\, author of among other books the most discussed collection of essays Bad Feminist. Bold\, open and painfully honest\, Gay writes about feminism\, the body\, being fat\, vulnerability\, strength and identity. She will be interviewed by Samya Hafsaoui.\nEnglish spoken \n  \nWomen’s Rights and Islam: Ayaan Hirsi Ali & Lale Gül \nBoth barely need an introduction: authors Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Lale Gül\, both high-profile for their books as well as their participation in the debate about freedom within a confining culture. How do they consider striving for freedom\, independence and the impossibility of the way back?\nEnglish and Dutch spoken \n  \nMorality\, Sex\, Literature: Tahar Ben Jelloun & Abdelkader Benali \nHe’s a novelist\, poet and essayist\, Morocco’s most famous living author of today: Tahar Ben Jelloun. Abdelkader Benali talks to him on the occasion of the publication of his newest book: Le miel et l’amerture\, a novel about problematic love affairs in a conventional society.\nFrench and Dutch spoken [interviewer translates] \n  \nOld and new colonialism: Alfred Birney & Gustaaf Peek \nHow colonialism shapes our history as well as our present is one of the great themes of writer Alfred Birney. He speaks with Gustaaf Peek\, whose new book A.D. discusses the early days colonial rule in Indonesia. A conversation on the wings of history\, knowledge and imagination.\nDutch spoken \n  \nFriction\, data\, AI: the intelligence of the future: Jeanette Winterson & Miriam Rasch \nThe conversation with Jeanette Winterson will take place online from 24 September on. He talks to sociologist and author Sinan Çankaya about his work and his background. \nPlease note: This Book Talk is a separate event on September 25th. \n

He has written several anthologies of stories that have earned considerable acclaim at home and abroad. De Volkskrant called him ‘a master in black humour and cruel irony’\, and gave his collection De wereld is niet stuk te krijgen five stars. The stories deal with Russian life from perspectives that are as diverse as the people living in that vast country. The Russian-Dutch filmmaker Aliona van der Horst will interview Osipov. \n28 September\nLaila Lalami\nThe Moroccan-American Pulitzer Prize nominee Laila Lalami is a lecturer at the University of Southern California\, novelist and essayist. She is a finalist of both the Booker and Pulitzer prizes\, which led to her international breakthrough. The Other Americans was a finalist for the National Book Award\, the Kirkus Prize and the Aspen Literary Award. The Moor’s Account is a fictionalised travelogue by the first Black explorer of America; an enslaved Moroccan whose testimony was never included in the official histories. The Other Americans is a timely\, provocative and gripping novel about immigration. A family saga\, whodunnit and love story all rolled up in one\, that subtly exposes the problems in Western society. \n29 September \nBryan Washington\nThe young American writer Bryan Washington is one of the National Book Award’s ‘5 under 35’ and winner of the prestigious Dylan Thomas Prize and Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence. His collection of short stories Lot has been nominated for even more awards. He writes for periodicals such as The New Yorker\, The Paris Review and Buzzfeed. His debut novel Memorial is a raw\, tender and humorous story about the value of food\, family and the variability of love. He will talk about the novel with writer Roos van Rijswijk. \nElizabeth Strout\nThe American writer Elizabeth Strout is the author of works such as Amy and Isabelle\, Abide with Me\, Olive Kitteridge and My Name is Lucy Barton. Olive Kitteridge was honoured with the Pulitzer Prize in 2009. The HBO adaptation starring Frances McDormand won six Emmy Awards in 2015\, including the award for Best Miniseries. My Name is Lucy Barton climbed all the way to the number-1 spot in the New York Times Bestseller List\, and was included in the long list for the Man Booker Prize. In 2019\, she published Olive\, Again. Her latest novel\, Oh\, William! will be released in October 2021. The story is narrated by the iconic protagonist Lucy Barton\, who offers deep\, timeless commentary on the mysteries of marriage and the nature of existence. Strout will be interviewed by Liddie Austin. \n2 October\nJonathan Franzen\nThe American writer Jonathan Franzen will be interviewed by journalist Hans Bouwman immediately after the release of his latest book\, Crossroads\, on 1 October. Jonathan Franzen broke through internationally in 2001 with his masterpiece The Corrections\, which won the National Book Award. In 2010\, he published Freedom\, which is already considered to be one of the best novels of this century. His latest novel Crossroads tells the story of a midwestern American family at the crossroads of a moral crisis. As in all his novels\, with Crossroads Franzen once again manages to meld a small\, private family life into the larger social narrative.

Last year\, the Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was awarded the Belle van Zuylenring. The Belle van Zuylenring was designed by local goldsmith Karin Wichers on behalf of Gemeente Utrecht. \nAbout the Belle van Zuylen Lecture\nThe Belle van Zuylen Lecture has been given in Utrecht since 2005 and is named after one of Utrecht’s most internationally renowned writers. SUMMARY:We need stories: literature in the year of corona
DESCRIPTION:Are we tired of hearing about corona? Not if the virus is featured in good stories from good writers! This year’s edition of the International Literature Festival Utrecht takes place in a turbulent time in which stories are perhaps more necessary than ever. An evening about literature that is in the midst of current events can therefore not be missed in the festival programma. During this programma\, journalist and presenter Pieter van der Wielen talks to well-known writers about this turbulent time and the books they wrote about this (or fictional) pandemic(s). Daan Heerma van Voss\, Hanna Bervoets and Aafke Romeijn take place on stage to discuss this topic. Stephan Vanfleteren reads from his book Diary of a Photographer. Corona Walks and the Italian  writer Paolo Giordano joins via live stream. The program can be followed in TivoliVredenburg or through a live stream. Tickets for the live stream can be bought via the ticket button on the right. Tickets to the venue can be bought here. The programme is partly in Dutch\, partly in English.\nAbout the writers\nItalian physicist Paolo Giordano‘s debut novel\, The Solitude of Prime Numbers\, immediately became an international bestseller. Likewise\, his recently published essay In times of contamination\, on globalization\, individualism and the coronavirus. Novelist and historian Daan Heerma van Voss is considered the frontrunner of his generation and writes for many international publications. In Corona Chronicles\, he describes the first two months of the corona crisis and how we try to get a grip on the situation. Hanna Bervoets‘ recent novel Welkom in het rijk der zieken is a haunting story about a sick person in an opaque parallel world – but earlier Bervoets wrote the apocalyptic novel Everything that was there\, which\nhas been frequently recalled over the past year. Aafke Romeijn\, versatile all-rounder\, also wrote the almost predictive novel Concept M two years ago about a mysterious disease that disrupts society. Stephan Vanfleteren is one of the most famous photographers of the Low Countries. During the lockdown\, he started to walk and look in a new way. He recorded his trips in the book Diary of a Photographer. Corona Walks.\nTicket sales and festival bundle\nTickets for a seat in Tivoli’s Grote Zaal can be purchased through TivoliVredenburg. You can also follow the event via a live stream by buying your ticket via the ticket button\, through a pay as you like system (from € 3 to € 15). The system is simple: you sign up with your mobile number\, buy a ticket and then receive confirmation for the live stream. On the day of the event\, log in using your phone number and the SMS code you receive and choose the Weneed stories live stream by clicking on it. SUMMARY:ILFU Book Talk: David Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:In the latest novel by David Mitchell about the rise and fall of the British rock band Utopia Avenue in the 60s\, the band also visits the Netherlands. Utopia Avenue\, his first book in five years\, leads through illustrious places\, from Soho to California\, but also Paradiso and the legendary Dutch music program Fenklup. Famous people also make an appearance (including a young David Bowie) and there are all kinds of references to characters from Mitchell’s earlier novels. We are very pleased that David Mitchell is coming to the Netherlands to talk about Utopia Avenue. \nDavid Mitchell is considered one of the greatest British writers of the moment. He gained great name recognition with the fantastic Cloud Atlas that jumps back and forth through time. The book was nominated for the Man Booker Prize and made into a movie with Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in the lead roles. The novel Dream Number Nine also received a Man Booker Prize nomination. The Dutch translation of Utopia Avenue (Meulenhoff\, translation by Harm Damsma and Niek Miedema) will be published at the end of September. \nDavid Mitchell will sign after the interview (or pre-signed books are available for sale). Friends of ILFU receive a discount on the entrance fee; You will receive the discount code for this in a separate newsletter. Want to become an ILFU Friend? Click here for more information (in Dutch). \n‘Utopia Avenue is packed with cameos and is back to old-fashioned mitchellian enjoyment. One of the many attractive aspects of David Mitchell’s writing is the fact that all his books are bursting with writing pleasure. Fun in composing elegant or raw sentences\, pleasure in playing with tropes and conventions from the most diverse genres\, pleasure in creating powerful characters who subsequently appear in several books.’ ***** (Dutch daily Volkskrant) \n‘David Mitchell is\, clearly\, a genius. He writes as though at the helm of some perpetual dream machine\, can evidently do anything\, and his ambition is written in magma across this novel’s every page.’ (The New York Times Book Review) \n(photo © Leo van der Noort)

She received the Guardian First Book Award for her first collection\, The Dance Champion and Other Stories from Zimbabwe. She also received many awards for this collection in America. Although the book has been described as a collection of stories about every layer of Zimbabwean culture\, she would rather not be seen as the voice of Zimbabwe. Her work has appeared in many languages. Her novel debut\, The Book of Memory\, was released in 2015. This novel also ended up on several longlists and on the shortlist for the Prix Femina étranger. \n‘A fascinating novel’ (**** Dutch daily NRC Next) \n‘Out of Darkness\, Dark Shining Light is so light-footed and entertaining that you hardly notice how deeply Gappah explores the tension between cultures … A wise and witty novel” (Dutch daily Trouw) \n(photo © Henry Oliver Hakulandaba)

SUMMARY:ILFU Book Talk: Michel Faber
DESCRIPTION:After the publication of his last book\, Michel Faber announced that he would no longer write novels. But luckily he didn’t stick to that and now there is the fantasy story D (A Tale of Two Worlds)\, his literary ode to Charles Dickens. This acclaimed writer is coming to Utrecht to talk about this new novel which will be published in Dutch in September. Poet Ellen Deckwitz will interview him\, and writer and podcast creator Tom Hofland will give a laudation to honour Michel Faber. \nMichel Faber is of Dutch descent\, grew up in Australia and has lived in Scotland since 1993. He made his debut with the collection of short stories God’s Toys and in 2002 wrote his magnum opus\, the much-praised The Crimson Petal and the White\, a more than eight hundred page book of which more than 100\,000 copies were sold in the Netherlands alone. The BBC made a four-part series of this Victorian novel. After his best-selling Under the Skin was made into a movie in 2013 starring Scarlett Johansson\, he completed The Book of Strange New Things shortly after his wife’s death in 2015. \nMichel Faber will sign after the conversation (or pre-signed books are available for sale). Friends of ILFU receive a discount on the entrance fee; You will receive the discount code for this in a separate newsletter. Want to become an ILFU Friend? Then please click here (in Dutch). \n‘Faber’s writing is so dizzyingly accomplished that he is able to convince you that\, just sometimes\, the old stories are the best ones’ (the Guardian) \nAbout The Book of Strange New Things: ‘(…) A gripping love story. Yet another proof of what an inventive\, daring and original writer Michel Faber has always been. And hopefully it will continue.’ (Dutch daily Het Parool) \n(photo © Eva Youren)

SUMMARY:ILFU Book Talk: Raynor Winn
DESCRIPTION:Raynor Winn’s The Salt Path unexpectedly became a worldwide success. Her debut on loss and resilience was critically acclaimed and struck a chord with readers. In the autobiographical The Salt Path she writes about how she and her husband become homeless and her husband turns out to be terminally ill. They decide to walk the South West Coast Path\, a trip of more than a thousand kilometers along the south coast of England. The book was nominated for various awards such as the Costa Book Award and the Wainwright Prize. \nThis afternoon Raynor Winn speaks at ILFU about the success of her debut and about her new and already acclaimed book The Wild Silence (Uitgeverij Balans). She describes how her and her husband Moth fared. Returning to normal life remains difficult – until a gesture from someone who has read their story changes everything. Winn and her husband are given the chance to revive an old farmhouse deep in the Cornish hills. It will be the new path they follow. \nRaynor Winn will sign after the interview (or pre-signed books are available for sale). Friends of ILFU receive a discount on the entrance fee; you will receive the discount code for this in a separate newsletter. Want to become a Friend of ILFU\, please click here (in Dutch). \n‘Raynor Winn’s The Wild Silence surpasses debut. Late bloomer Raynor Winn shows even more in her second book than in The Salt Path that she is a wonderful writer.’ (Dutch daily Trouw) \n‘The Wild Silence confirms Raynor as a natural and extremely talented writer with an incredible way with words. This bookgives us all what we wanted to know at the end of The Salt Path which is what happened next. So moving\, it made me cry. . . repeatedly’ (BBC)
